The orphan boy Timm Thaler has always been a bright and sociable contemporary. It is precisely because of his infectious laugh that the sympathies of his fellow people really fly to him. For this reason, Baron Lefuet, who is as unscrupulous as he is rich, is also interested in it: Timm is guaranteed to win every bet if he sells the Baron his laugh. The boy can’t resist the tempting offer and at first thinks he’s getting a big step closer to fulfilling all his most longing wishes. But without his laughter, the joy disappears more and more from his increasingly lonely life. Timm’s friends Kreschimir and Ida, however, do not want to stand by and do nothing. Together with Timm they make a plan to trick the baron and win back Timm’s laughter.
